Edison Enterprises Executive to Appear on May 25
 CNNfn Energy Deregulation Special

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., May 22, 1998 -- Edison Enterprises executive Richard Counihan will appear on CNNfn’s upcoming "Power to the People" special on electric utility restructuring. The segment hosted by John Metaxes, anchor of "Your Money," will focus on the consumer aspect of energy deregulation. Specifically, the program will look at where the nation is in the deregulation process and how changes in the industry are affecting electric customers. "Power to the People" is scheduled to air on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

 In addition to Counihan, featured guests will include Secretary of Energy Federico Pena, Anna Aurilio of the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (USPIRG), and Jay Dobson of Donaldson, Lufken and Jenrette (DLJ).

 Counihan is vice president government affairs at Edison Enterprises, the retail business subsidiary of Edison International. For the past 16 years, he has worked closely with various local, state and federal government agencies focusing on energy policy and related issues. In his current position, he is responsible for interfacing with regulatory commissions and legislative bodies at the state and federal levels.

 Prior to joining Edison Enterprises, Counihan acted as a liaison to the California Public Utilities Commission for Southern California Edison, where he worked on a broad range of issues including the deregulation of the electric industry. Counihan has a BA in economics from Pomona College and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University.
