Purpose of Position:

Receives, records and distributes work orders to service personnel upon customers' requests for service by performing the following duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Records information such as name, address, equipment to be repaired or service to be rendered
  • Prepares work order and distributes to service technician
  • Schedules service call and dispatches service technician
  • Calls or writes customer to ensure satisfactory performance of service
  • Keeps record of service calls and work orders
  • Dispatches orders and relays messages and special instructions to mobile technicians in other departments where necessary
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Language Ability: Ability read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively over the phone.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Word processing; e-mail

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical; or
  • Six months to one year related experience dispatching, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
